This half term we have been investigating the different features involved in producing adverts. We then planned, wrote, produced and edited our own adverts for our own products based on what our group thought was the most important feature E.g. Action and music, a strong tag line (every little helps),a story, humour, persuasive language etc. Click below and see what you think...

They needed to pack a healthy lunch box and produce a spreadsheet to show how much each lunch box would cost. They used the price comparison site above to get the prices (parents might find it very useful).

YEAR 2
The following link shows how literacy and numeracy skills can be developed alongside ICT skills.
Develop / model information and ideas by processing data from given sources to support their activities in a range of subjects,
http://pontyclunpri2.blogspot.com/2009/07/we-know-how-to-program-bee-bot-and-give.html
The link below is an example of how year 2 use ICT to perform to the entire school . The children chose the microphone to enhance their performance and raise money for comic relief.
To Create and present their ideas for a given purpose by combining different forms of information, including text, images, sound, with some sense of
audience.
http://pontyclunpri2.blogspot.com/2009/04/year-twos-got-talent-too.html
The link below is an example of how the blog has been used to write a paragraph about a best friend. The child wrote, edited and posted the work themselves developing skills in ICT and communication.
Safely share different forms of information with others in appropriate ways, including the use of e-mail with attachments; virtual learning environments (VLEs).
Create and present information and ideas by combining a variety of different forms of information, including text, images, graphs, music files, with a developing sense of audience for their work.

As part of learning about tens and units, we have been using the computer to help us count money. We have added two prices together by counting the tens and ones. We have found it easier to group all the tens together and then count the ones after.
http://pontyclunpri2.blogspot.com/2009/09/counting-money-using-computer.html
As part of our investigations into the life of Roald Dahl, we have been searching the internet to find as much out about him as we can. We have looked at The official Roald Dahl website to help us.
http://pontyclunpri2.blogspot.com/2009/09/using-internet-to-find-out-information.html
Using maths in science lessons: After we completed our human sorting, we plotted our results in a graph using the computer

Year 1
Below is an example of a battery operated till being used to calculate the costs of items bought in a shop. The role play activity develops numeracy as children pay for items and receive change.
Finding suitable information from given sources
Sorting objects via ICT
We have been using our numeracy skills to sort objects. We talked about what makes an animal, then we sorted pictures on the computer into 2 groups. We used our ICT skills to share ideas using picture and word banks.http://pontyclunpri1.blogspot.com/2009/09/usng-ict-to-sort-objects.html
Year 1 communicating with parents and encouraging ICT work at home
http://pontyclunpri1.blogspot.com/2009/09/useful-sites.html

We used our Number and ICT skills to put our findings into a simple table and a pictogram
http://pontyclunpri1.blogspot.com/2009/10/favourite-fruit-survey.html
We used our ICT skills to help present our designs on 2Simple.
http://pontyclunpri1.blogspot.com/2009/10/using-our-ict-skills.html
As part of our Eco Week, we are concentrating on the topic of waste. We have been using our communication skills by talking about how we can reduce, re-use and recycle. We used our Number and ICT skills to sort pictures on the computer. We know which objects can be used re –used (in a compost) and which can be recycled.
http://pontyclunpri1.blogspot.com/2009/10/using-our-ict-skills_12.html
We used our ICT skills to present and share our ideas about waste. We used our communication skills to talk about what we wanted to say in our group. Here is our report! A video shot by the children using the tuff cam – watch the video.
http://pontyclunpri1.blogspot.com/2009/10/reduce-re-use-recycle.html
We used ICT skills to help create our lists. As it was 'No Paper Day', we decided to write our shopping lists on white boards and chalk boards too.
http://pontyclunpri1.blogspot.com/2009/10/shopping-lists.html
We communicated and listened to our talking partners. We told our partner our route to school and they drew a map of the journey. We also used our ICT skills to help create and present our routes.
http://pontyclunpri1.blogspot.com/2009/10/talking-partners.html
We have been learning about Diwali. We listened to the story of Rama and Sita and talked about how people celebrate Diwali. We used our ICT skills to present our ideas using a word bank. We labelled pictures about Diwali. Can you say how people celebrate Diwali?
http://pontyclunpri1.blogspot.com/2009/10/diwali-using-word-bank.html
We have learnt how to type our names using a keyboard. We have been using Caps Lock to type our names correctly with a capital letter.
http://pontyclunpri1.blogspot.com/2009/10/ict-skills.html
We used our thinking skills and communicated with our talking partner by writing pairs of numbers that make 6 and 7 on white boards. We used our ICT skills to present our ideas by writing number sentences on the plasma board. We also used the Tuff Cam and Bee Bot to present our ideas. We worked out the answer to a number question, then we programmed and directed Bee Bot to move to the correct answer on the mat.

Displays using ICT

We used our thinking skills and communicated with our talking partner by writing pairs of numbers that make 6 and 7 on white boards. We used our ICT skills to present our ideas by writing number sentences on the plasma board. We also used the Tuff Cam and Bee Bot to present our ideas. We worked out the answer to a number question, then we programmed and directed Bee Bot to move to the correct answer on the mat.
